The state party has been hiring several new organizers who will help with the Nov. election. Becky Dickman is a field organizer for the Tom Nelson campaign. Meg Sievert is an organizer for the northern part of the 8th Congressional District. You will have an opportunity to meet them at the membership meeting on July 20. They will be speaking at 7:00 pm. at the Civic Center.
FAMILY PICNIC / HILLARY PRE-WATCH PARTY
Thur., July 28th is the date of our family picnic at Kuckuk Park from 5:00-7:00 pm. There will be several speakers including candidates who will be on the ballot in Nov. Russ Feingold’s van might even make an appearance. We will have music provided by Skip Jones and a 50/50 raffle. Grilled hamburgers, brats and hot dogs will be available. Bring a salad or dessert and items for our silent auction. Come and join in on some spirited conversation and a good time. We will end in time to view the final evening of the Democratic Convention. Hillary will be speaking later on this night.
IT’S TIME TO VOLUNTEER
There will be several opportunities for volunteering in the next few months. Currently phone calls are being made on Monday evenings on behalf of Tom Nelson’s campaign for representative of the 8th Congressional District. This will be a very competitive race that Tom has a good chance of winning but he needs help in connecting with voters. Call Jan Koch if you can help out from 5:30-8:00 pm at her house.
Another volunteer opportunity involves working a day in August with Habitat for Humanity at their Shawano site. If you would like to help out, contact Jan Koch and she will let you know the date.
August 6-7 is the National Weekend of Action for the Clinton/Feingold/Nelson Coordinated Campaign. We need volunteers to pass out flyers at the Shawano Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning and to knock on doors on Sunday in Shawano.
OFFICE OPENING
On August 10th we will be having an office opening celebration at 713 E. Green Bay St. in Shawano. This is the same site that we have had before. Candidates will be there for you to meet and talk with. We will have a cook- out in the parking lot from 5-7 pm. Donations for the office rent and maintenance will be gladly accepted. Stop by and pick up some yard signs and bumper stickers. Look for the giant inflatable donkey.
Stop by the office and sign up for 3 hour office shifts. It will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-7 pm and from 9-12 am on Saturdays during the month of August.

Chair’s Comments
The excitement is growing for the Nov. election. Once the Presidential candidate is chosen the last week in July, we will be in full campaign season. You will be seeing signs for candidates Russ Feingold and Tom Nelson. We will be mounting our grassroots 4’X2’ signs for 2nd State Senate candidate, John Powers and 6th Assembly candidate William Switalla in areas where there isn’t an ordinance against it. The City of Shawano won’t allow yard signs until 60 days before an election. Let us know if your rural property has a good location for signs.
