GET YOUR SIGNS
One way you can show your support for candidates is by putting a sign in your yard. We now have signs for Joe Biden and Congressional Candidate Amanda Stuck. We will be having an office but it won’t be open until August 13th. In the meantime, you can get signs at different locations throughout the county:
Shawano: Call/Text – Jan Koch 715-296-6726
(Note: Signs aren’t allowed in the City of Shawano until September 4th.)
Bonduel: Text – Dan Weidner 715-250-1212
Gresham: Call/Text – Dea Bisley 715-853-6424
Wittenberg: Call/Text – Bill Switalla 715–253-2052

Our office will be at 1404 E. Green Bay St. It is in the back of the grey building across from Perkin’s driveway. The office will be open on Tuesdays 12-5 pm; Thursdays 2-6 pm, and Saturdays 10 am to 1 pm. We will require masks and have hand sanitizer. Donations for signs will be appreciated.
JULY AND AUGUST MEETINGS
We will be having our July 15th virtual meeting on Zoom. The speakers will be the two 6th District Assembly candidates. Retired doctor, Richard Sarnwick, and recent Political Science graduate, Simon Moesch, will be telling about themselves and why they are running. The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm. A computer link will be sent on-line a few days before. If you don’t have a computer or you can’t get the Zoom app to load on your computer or smart phone, you can call 312-626-6799. You will be able to listen and comment.
At the August 19th meeting we are hoping to have Aaron Damrau, candidate for Shawano/Menominee County District Attorney, and retired attorney Steve Menard. We are planning to have an outdoor meeting behind our office beginning at 7:00 pm.. Attendees will be asked to bring lawn chairs and socially distance. If there is bad weather, we will have the meeting on Zoom.
MONTHY TOPICS
We continue to have op-eds in the Shawano Leader. The topic for July points out the inequalities that have existed in our country’s history. The recent protests have supported the Black Lives Matter movement which strives for a change. The op-ed for August will be about the difficulties facing schools when they open in the fall.

Chair’s Comments
At this time, we are very cautious about how to proceed with our social events due to COVID-19. Our volunteers at the Shawano County Fair have been mostly seniors. We will be discussing the cancellation of our fair booth reservation at our July 15th meeting. Young people would have to step up and take charge for us to have a booth.
Thanks to those who have given us donations. We won’t be having our picnic and probably won’t be having our fall fundraising dinner so any amount that you can contribute at this time would be appreciated. You can mail a check made out to the Democratic Party of Shawano County to our treasurer, Bob Koch at W4769 Birchwood Dr., Shawano, WI 54166 or go to our website at https://shawanocountydems.com. Click on “Contact Us” and scroll down until you see the DONATE button.
