MIKE McCABE COMING TO SHAWANO COUNTY

Mike McCabe will be speaking at two events in Shawano County on Wednesday, March 17th.  His first stop will be at the Historic Depot in Eland where a pot luck will be held at 5:00 pm.  He will speak at 5:30pm and then travel to the Shawano Civic Center where he will speak at 7:15 pm.  The public in invited to attend.

McCabe is the founder of a nonpartisan group, Blue Jean Nation.  He is the author of the book Blue Jeans in High Places:  The Coming Makeover of American Politics.  Blue Jean Nation works to promote the transformation of the democratic institutions that are failing America and reinvigorate our republic through community outreach, civic education, grassroots organizing, public policy advocacy and social action.

McCabe and his organization want to break the grip political professionals have on our democracy, get the party establishments to change their ways, and get ordinary people back in the driver’s seat of our government at a time when both major parties are failing us.

McCabe is considering running for governor in 2018.

Prior to Mike McCabe’s talk, the Democratic Party of Shawano County will have a short meeting beginning at 7:00 pm.

GRASSROOTS WOMAN’S GROUP

As a part of the resistance movement that has sprung up around the country, Shawano Area women have organized a group to bring about change.

At its first Shawano meeting, the women who were present discussed the issues that concerned them, agreed on the values that they shared and decided on which issues needed immediate attention.

Women who were not at the first meeting are invited to attend the next meeting which will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, May 22 in Wittenberg at Baba’s Café.  Those interested in carpooling from Shawano should contact Jan Koch at 715-526-2955.

There will be two meetings each month. The next Shawano meeting will be on Saturday, June 3rd at 9:30 am at Angie’s Main Café.

Any woman who would like to be a part of enacting change through action, is welcome to get involved in this group.

Bring your campaign sign wires to any of our events.  We will store them until the next election.
